Hey, Guys! 

You want to know who I am and why you should trust me to handle your content, right? Fair enough.

It might be too late to stamp a trademark on this one, but I’m (what I like to believe I coined,) what’s known as a recovering journalist.

I spent my formative years living and breathing journalism. An obnoxiously proud graduate of Mizzou’s formidable J-School, I set out to take journalism by storm. 

I chose the stress of writing a research paper the night before it was due every day of my life. I was a reporter, an editor, a researcher, a writer, an interviewer, a cynic and a watchdog.

After spending several years reporting and editing for newspapers, I abdicated the throne in pursuit of a role that a) paid a livable wage and b) didn’t require me to be on call 24/7. It turns out that having a baby at home wasn’t too conducive to that lifestyle.

Luckily for me, content marketing was a remarkably perfect fit. While I had a fair share of work cut out for me in picking up marketing lingo, learning SEO and shifting my mentality to equate success with conversions, I was already ahead of the game in many other ways. It turns out it’s a lot more challenging to teach someone how to become a writer than it is to coach someone up to marketing.  

I’ve always brought my own toolkit of unique skills to share with marketing teams, too. Interviewing, storytelling and writing concisely just happen to be second nature to me. Editing work from team members? What could be better than that?

I’ve now handled content marketing for a liberal arts university, Austin-based B2B tech organizations, an international SaaS company and an international HR tech business.
